It takes almost all your strength just to force the front door open. Strong winds whistle violently outside, carrying snow and a frosty chill with them as they do so. Through the storm, you are just able to make out the snowy roofs of longhouses, sloping forwards and downwards to a shore where light glows from dragon-prowed longboats and stripe-sailed war ships. The east and west of the village are walled off by steep, insurmountable rock walls - and you realize the village must be built in the ravine of a narrow fjord. When you listen hard enough, you are just able to make out the roar of crashing waves far out in the ocean - and the sky above you is dark and cloudy, even though you know it should be the middle of the day by now. The north is a harsh land, and as a result only breed harsh inhabitants.

Squinting your eyes, the black outlines of a great fort become visible in the distance. Half-built into the mountain wall, with a snaky path slithering up to it from the village. All the other buildings here have been made of logs - and you highly doubt any northerner would have the brains or even the patience to construct a castle of that size. It's far more likely to be the remnant of some forgotten people who once lived up here. The few towers you see on it are crumbled and broken, and the entire edifice looks like it could collapse at any given second.

Some of the patrons suddenly shout at you to close the door again - blaming you for letting the cold in. The weather outside is too rough for you to want to explore further, so you humor them and close it shut.
