They gave the green light for lethal force if necessary, and no one was to interrupt what ever was happening. ''Something big happening 'round here'' Nick thought to himself as he sat outside the main complex, a large building with a domed roof in the center, leaning against the wall as he smoked a cigarette. It wasn't that he cared, he was paid to keep the peace and keep those damn Eco terrorists out. If he learned anything from his tours in the army, it was not to ask questions. So he kept his mouth shut, and his gun loaded. However, when the fourth helicopter flew over head to the landing pad, his curiosity was peaked. He tossed the cigarette and stomped it out before walking down to Victor, his squad leader. The tall man was yelling at a couple of engineers who were trying to get in to a restricted area. As Nick got closer, he heard the end of the conversation "''I don't give a flying fuck about your job, my orders are no-one gets in without an level 5 ID card, so unless you can get one, FUCK OFF''" He took a step towards them as he shouted, sending the men scurrying away in fear. As Victor turned around, muttering about engineers, he caught sight of Nick and smiled "''Everything good on your end?''" Nick nodded, before offering Victor a cigarette "''Nothing happening, but you know what the fuck's going on?''" Nick asked as he lit the cigarette for Victor. Victor took a long drag before responding "''dunno what's going inside, but whatever it is, it's important''" He exhaled, a cloud of smoke dissipating in the air "''One of those choppers held most of the board, another held the president of the company. The others held a bunch of shitheads they are trying to impress''" Nick chuckled as he listened "''Over heard some eggheads talking about a new power source, I believe the word he used was 'Revolutionary', whatever that means''" that made sense to Nick. There was always a market for energy, but as long as he got paid, he couldn't give two shits about some "revolutionary" science. He was a simple oil and coal type of guy. He was about to make a smart ass comment about the scientists, when an alarm starting going off. Both Nick and Victor turned to face the main complex, where red flashing lights seemed to scream out '''DANGER'''. Everyone rushing around seemed to simultaneously stop, staring at lights and alarms. A voice on the radio attached to Nick and Victors shoulder started to bark out orders in a panicked voice "''Evacuate the complex, get key personal to the choppers, and control the evacuation. I don't want any unnecessary chaos. And don't le-''" An explosion from somewhere in the main complex cut them off, the doom cracking like an egg as fire and smoke began to pour out of it. The voice was now replaced with static, and almost all at once the scientists and personal started to scatter, many sprinting away from the blast. Victor cursed and unslung his M16 and started to sprint toward the security trucks. As he ran, he looked back at Nick and shouted his orders "''Get inside and start moving people out. As soon as you feel like the it's too dangerous, get out, fuck whoever's still inside. And tell me what the fuck is going on if you find out!''" Nick nodded as he grabbed his pump action shotgun and ran into the complex. Two more security guards were at the main entrance, directing people out, but when Nick asked them what the hell was going on, they could only shrug. Nick plunged into the building, where the only light was from the flashing red lights. A few more scientists ran by, Nick managed to grab one by his arm, yanking him back. The scientist tried to pry his arm free, but Nick only squeezed his arm harder as he looked down at the small man "''What's going on, and is there anyone else inside?''" The balding man looked up at Nick, his glasses sliding off his nose "''The machine, i-it overloaded the batteries, causing them to blow. I don't know where they found that thing, but's gonna blow this whole damn building sky high... We gotta get out of here!!!''" The scientist gave one more push, but Nick just let him go, sending the man sprawling onto the ground. He was faced with two choices. 17 Hours Before Contamination
At the GEPS Power Station
The whole place was alive, scientists and engineers rushing this way and that. Something big was happening tonight, that much was clear to Nick. Not that anyone told him, he was just private security. However, the chief of Security had been explicitly clear in his message to the force, nothing could go wrong tonight. They gave the green light for lethal force if necessary, and no one was to interrupt what ever was happening. Something big happening 'round here Nick thought to himself as he sat outside the main complex, a large building with a domed roof in the center, leaning against the wall as he smoked a cigarette. As Nick got closer, he heard the end of the conversation "I don't give a flying fuck about your job, my orders are no-one gets in without an level 5 ID card, so unless you can get one, FUCK OFF" He took a step towards them as he shouted, sending the men scurrying away in fear.
