You say the words, and immediately wonder if it was the right thing to say. She turns away from you, sniffling, and thinks on it. After a full minute of silence, she turns back to you and nods.
"You're right," she says. "I don't even want to say it, but you're right. We're both alive and healthy and we can't afford to live on if's and maybe's. You're absolutely right. We need to pack up all we can take with us and we need to leave. Find somewhere that we can hide out better than this. The whole front of the place is glass and anyone could break through at any time."
"Are you saying we just leave Melanie here?"
She nods. "We can only depend on ourselves, right? The girl is a burden."
