Volunteer to be the (hopefully phony) sacrifice
From Create Your Own Story
"I'll do it," you say in a small voice.
"Katarina, no," protests Monica.
"If anyone should do it, it should be me," adds Dr. Calderon. "Maybe if I'd kept a closer eye on Patricia, none of this would have happened."
"Whoever does it needs to be strong enough to keep Patricia in line," you say. "I'm very experienced with combat situations."
Dr. Calderon and Monica reluctantly allow you to be the sacrifice. Inside the cavern, you and Patricia march out ahead. The Demonslayer is hidden under your blouse with your buxom chest. Calderon and Monica remain hidden in the shadows, she with her crossbow and he with your pistol that you gave to him. The pile of stones is now strewn all over the cavern floor, and there is no sign of the demon. You give Patricia an icy glare that says "don't fuck me over."
"Master, I'm back with a sacrifice," Patricia calls out. "There may have been a little issue last time, but I turned the tables."
The demon suddenly appears in a burst of flame. "Excellent, my loyal servant." He smirks when he sees you. "This time, we'll do it right."
You stalk up to the demon. "I do not fear you, monster."
The demon cackles. "Oh, but you will."
In a lightning move, you suddenly whip out the Demonslayer and decapitate the demon. The head flies through the air and lands on top of a rock. The body stands ramrod straight for a second, then collapses to the stone cold floor, stone cold dead.
You fall to your knees, overwhelmed with emotion. You always pictured yourself saying a cool one-liner after slaying a monster, but you're so glad it's all over that all you can do is sigh with relief.
Monica and Dr. Calderon rush out from their hiding place. "You did it, Katarina!" cries Monica.
You smile. "No. We all did it, together. Cheesy, but true."
Patricia clears her throat. "What about me?"
Dr. Calderon looks at her. "I suppose you've redeemed yourself as much as you possibly can be redeemed after what you did. You're free to go. Oh, and this kind of goes without saying, but you're fired."
Patricia looks guiltily at her shoes. "I understand, Dr. Calderon. And I'm sorry." She makes her way out of the cavern alone, to go off on her own way.
That evening, you, Monica, and Dr. Calderon have a quiet celebration with steak, lobster, and champagne in the museum's banquet room. "The world will never know what happened in that cavern," says Dr. Calderon. "They'll never know how close humanity came to being conquered by a demonic army. It's sad, in a way."
"But perhaps it's better that way," says Monica, placing one hand over Dr. Calderon's and another over yours.
You nod in agreement. "I think so too. But enough of all that melancholy stuff. Tonight is a night for celebration!"
THE END
