"But... well, a dozen people?" you say. You don't know how long you've lasted before, but twelve people...
"Might not be twelve," he says reassuringly. "Some of them are on the far side and might not notice you're here. I don't even know how many of us there are."
"O...kay," you say, feeling more assured.
