TLJ: Bring R2 and try to fix the lightsaber

R2-D2 looks at the lightsaber for a minute or two, then says both of you “could” do it. However, he is far more familiar with Luke’s green lightsaber than this one. The weapon once belonged to Anakin Skywalker, an old master of him. There could be some data left in him from the good old days before the good old days. Rey watches with interest as R2 and you begin to work on the lightsaber. You target the pieces that need to be replaced or repaired but soon find a big problem.
The Kyber Crystal is broken. More precisely cut in half by both Rey and Ren at the end of their duel. Without the powerful blue crystal, the blade will never ignite and the once noble weapon merely becomes a fine addition to someone’s collection of old stuff. Perhaps you could make a fishing cane out of it... A new crystal is needed. However, there is no place to easily find one. The road to the old Jedi crystal caverns are long forgotten and going on Jeddah is a death wish since the First Death Star blew up half of it decades ago. R2 proposes Utapau, but there is no Kyber Crystals there!
