Earth - Training Proceeds
From Create Your Own Story
The training sessions proceeded satisfactorily and on schedule. The twelve “temporary“ crew members spent four hours each day receiving classroom instruction. The other four hours were spent in the simulator running through drills with the “regular” crew. Gradually but steadily the two groups meshed; melded into one unit. By the time Lift Off would arrive, each Watch Section would be able to perform as a team.
While the new men of each Watch Section were in class-- not in the simulator running drills-- the “regular” crew members continued preparations for getting underway. The Cook made sure the provisions arrived properly and the galley was functioning. During the last week prior to departure they would actually be eating onboard. The Boatswain checked and re-checked the safety equipment. The Officers ran diagnostics on all circuitry.
After hours, of course. Each man was free to leave base if he chose and pursue whatever activity he might chose.
