Downfall/Hotel 5

From Create Your Own Story

You enter the hotel. Julianne checks you in and collects the keys to your rooms on the top floor, at the end of the hallway. Both rooms are situated opposite. Kirsten asks Julianne to share one room with you; that leaves Will to share the room with your mum. Kirsten unlocks the door. There is a double bed, centered at the east wall, with nightstands on each side. There are windows to the south and west. The roof terrace to the west is accessible via glass sliding doors. Next to the entrance door stands a large wardrobe and a dresser with a large mirror. You open the terrace doors. Besides an ensemble of a table and four chairs, two sunbeds and a beach umbrella are situated on the open space. A privacy shield divides the terrace from the opposite side that belongs to your mother's room.

You go down to the dining hall to eat dinner. You help yourself from the buffet with local foods and exotic fruits. You drag the dinner out as long as you can, leaving Kirsten tapping her fingers with impatience. One small victory at least, albeit a shallow one. After a last dessert, you have to return to your room.

Kirsten sits down on the bed. You wait at the entrance, your hands behind the back. "How can I be of service, master?" you ask.

Kirsten frowns. "Sarcasm isn't part of our deal."

"You cheated."

"No, you took the bet based on a false assumption. Don't be a bad loser, Debs."

"Okay, okay. But I will get back at you, and you have to give me the chance to re-bet you."

"Sure. Will you stop acting like a child?"

You nod.

"Fine. Unpack the bags. Then call room service for crushed ice and glasses. I'm on the terrace. Come to me when you are done." She ventures outside.

You do as you are told. The clothes in the wardrobe, the sanitary products in the bathroom. A knock on the door signals room service, delivering the ice. You join Kirsten on the balcony. She is sitting at the table, a full bottle of Whiskey in front of her.

"Sit down," she commands. She puts ice cubes in two glasses and opens the bottle. "This is our little treat for the week."

"Where did you get the bottle?" you ask. "I don't think mum would approve."

"Are you going to tell her?" You shake your head. "Then she won't have an opportunity to disapprove. And it's not like we're going to get plastered." She pours a small amount into a glass and looks at you.

"Is that an order?"

"Of course not. I am not gonna force you to drink alcohol, Debs. You can sit and relax until I am finished before I give you your next task."

"We aren't finished for today? I'm beat from the journey."

"So am I. That's why it's great to have you do the work. If you had agreed to two days, we could relax. But so..."

Sounds like you could need the drink.
