Bubbly and green

"Okay," she says.
She lifts the beaker and drains off a good portion of the bubbly green liquid. She puts the beaker down, then hiccups.
"I feel all tingly," she says.
Her skin darkens and appears to thicken. Leaves sprout from her hair and from the tips of her fingers.
"Oh my god!" she says. "I'm turning into a tree!"
The mad scientist points at her and laughs.
