Berlin, 1945: Final Push

From Create Your Own Story

Ah, Berlin I see. Good choice.

You will be in the crew of a Panther G who is currently trying their best to halt the Russian onslaught. You will be the loader for now, but things may change if your decisions say so. Who knows, you may even get trapped in a trench line or even get in a Tiger 2 as replacement loader, who knows.

Good luck, and happy choices.

This was absolute mayhem.

You were currently on a main street positioned behind an overturned tram with a few other Panthers from your division. Many burning tanks were sitting on the street, knocked out from the power of the Russian armoured vehicles and forces. Most were taken out by anti-tank crews with things like Molotov cocktails, magnetic bombs, and other weapons. But that was before the tanks came.

First it was the infantry, then the tanks. Swarms of T-34-85s, with an occasional IS-2 here and there. They were intimidating as hell. Their can fire was loud enough for you, and you hadn't heard anything as loud as them after you heard a Tiger's cannon. You never knew that such a large cannon could exist.

"Hey!! Wake up!" You felt a solid slap from the side of your head from the gunner. "No time to doze off, not with these bastards right in front of us." He fired and the Panther jolted back, the cannon breech following suite as the empty canister was ejected out towards you. You grabbed the hot canister, opened the hatch behind you and threw the shell out onto the back of the tank, hearing it land with a empty thunk and clatter.

Before you could close the hatch door, the Panther closest to you suddenly became engulfed in flames as there was a loud and blinding explosion. You let out a shout as you felt searing heat on your face, making your eyes water intensely and your lips dry almost instantly. You cover your face with your arm as you close the hatch, rubbing your eyes, hearing the commander shout at you.

"Load armour piercing, dammit!" He shouted from beside you. You scan over the ammo rack, finding only 1 AP round and 5 high-explosive. "Last one, sir!" You shout, grabbing the AP round, turning towards the cannon breech. You slam the round into it, shouting 'Ready!" afterwards. The gunner soon started to aim the turret as you felt it rotate slowly. The commander looks through his view ports on the hatch, before shouting;

"There's a knocked out Panther about 100 metres North-West of our position. If you're brave enough, you can hop out through the rear hatch and make a run for the Panther while I take over the loader." He says every word without looking at you.

So what do you do? Stay in the tank? Or make a suicidal dash for extra ammo that may not even be there?
