"What are you holding there?" you ask.

"Why do you ask?" she replies. "Do you fear what you cannot see?" Her head tilts and she watches you, as a wild cat might watch a mouse. Whatever she's holding, it glints in the light from the pool, reflecting it back across the cavern walls behind her.

You hold her gaze. You try not to glance down at the way her black dress hugs her curves. The woman laughs maniacally. "What I hold is less dangerous than what you seek." She is much closer now.
