Some late night arcade games are just what you need. You aren't stupid however. You cautiously approach the door. You look around a bit, to see what is what. It seems that the normal lock mechanism is missing from the door, and appears to have been missing for some time. There is a bar for the inside of the door, and a padlock to lock that bar in place. The bar and padlock are sitting to the side of the door, with a key resting in the lock. Inside you can hear someone whistling, apparently going about some work. Almost definitely not a thief.
