An ellipsis is a series of three periods used to indicate a pause in speech, an unfinished thought, or, at the end of a sentence, a trailing off into silence. It is always three periods. It is never two periods and it is never four periods.
If every line of dialogue that you write ends with an ellipsis, you might be overdoing it. Unless your character is very confused or uncertain or something...
