You weren't just going to back down now. You had gotten these guys off of Melanie, you were a hero.

As soon as you got to your room you turned and raised the bat ready to swing. The smaller of the two men came barreling into the room first, he charged at you senselessly. You swung the bat with all your might, aimed low, and got the lunatic in the stomach. He stumbled, winded, and was now slumped on the ground holding his stomach. You were filled with adrenaline as you raised the bat again and brought it down on his head. You heard a sicking metal clunk as the bat met his head.

He moaned in pain on the floor below you. Fuck!, you thought, not dead!

You raised your bat again to finish the job when the second, larger man in a mask came into the room. In the heat of the moment of trying to take out the first assistant you had forgotten about him. Caught off guard you hastily stepped over the first assailant, raised the bat over your head and attempted to bring it down on the second man's head. But he grabbed the bat mid-swing. After a short scuffle he got the bat from you and was able to knock you to the ground. He brought the bat down on your head the second you were down... and again... and again... and again.

The last thought you had before everything went black was that you hoped you had given Melanie the chance to escape and that she would remember you as a hero.
