Try to sneak past the pirate

You hug the wall and try to slip past the tentacled pirate all ninja-style. Unfortunately, he catches sight of you with one of the many bulging eyes -that you've just now noticed- on the ends of his tentacles. He turns toward you, a nightmarish medusa-like creature, and opens fire with his rifle.
