As soon as you land that absolute badass kick of yours straight to her chest you realize your mistake. Rey hits the side of the ramp that hasn’t broke and falls to her death down the pit. However, that millisecond you gained by sending her into that ramp gives you just enough time to lunge forwards and catch her hand. Again, it is cool but the worst is yet to come.
With her falling down vertically, you follow her down the pit. At the last second you manage to take a hold of the ramp and both of you balance themselves over a certain death. The ramp is starting to shake under your combined weight, so is your arms, and her hand is also about to slip out of yours. So this is how you will die, trying to save a goddamn prisoner that you kicked down the battery pit. Well, at least it will be less painful than Kylo Ren slicing you open.
No, that can’t be it. If you couldn’t do it in the first place you would have called Ren to get killed or put a bullet in your own head. You have to do it; you have to! Incredible strength suddenly enters your body and you start to lift Rey, who is giving you a mysterious look. Your heart is beating like never before and everything in your body seems about to break. However, you keep pushing her up, eventually she puts a hand on the ramp and lifts herself back to the ground. Still full of adrenaline, you use your remaining energy to lift yourself up and join her on level 9. You fall next to her and you lay next to each other, panting like your life was nearly taken away from you, which actually just happened.
“Why... Why did you save me?” Rey asks after a minute, still short of breath.
“Isn’t that obvious? If you die, I’m also gonna get killed.” You answer.
“Th... thank you.” Rey says after another minute of silence, still giving you that impenetrable look.
“You’re welcome... I guess.” You tell her. Then, she surprises you by straddling you and shoving her lips on yours.
“I don’t know why, but I need to thank you for saving me. My body is the only thing I can give you right now. I want you to know that I surrender myself, to you.” She tries to explain before putting her lips back onto yours.
You kiss her back this time, and feel more alive kissing her than you ever did.
