Stoically accept your gruesome fate
From Create Your Own Story
If you're going to die, you're going to die like a warrior princess, not a scared little girl. So you stoically accept your fate.
"Any last words, Marina?" Annabelle asks.
You look straight into her eyes. "All that time together fighting zombies, you always had my back. What changed?"
"Nothing changed. I've always been in it for myself. When it was just you and me in the wilderness, I watched your back because you're a good fighter and you staying alive increased my chances of staying alive. That's all."
You simply shake your head in sadness as you see your companion's true colors. Annabelle becomes cocky and a nasty smile, similar to Rhona's, appears on her face. "Tell you a secret, Marina. Back in the castle, I was secretly working to sabotage things and get the others killed off because I was sick of Jack and Holly being so blindly nice and letting anyone and everyone into the castle. Remember how a horde of zombies burst in through that window right after you arrived and killed that dude Steve? Well, I loosened the boards on the window so the zombies could get in. They never could have gotten in otherwise. Eventually, after enough of the others had been eaten by zombies, I was going to finish off the rest of them and have the castle all to myself like a queen." You stare in shock and horror as the full extent of her betrayal shines through.
"Sorry, Marina. I don't think you're cut out for this brave new world." Annabelle raises her axe all the way, preparing to smash it into your neck.
Suddenly, you kick hard into her kneecap, hearing a satisfying CRUNCH of bone shattering. With a cry, Annabelle falls to the ground and her axe sails loose. Two of the henchmen aim their guns at you, but Rhona raises her hand. "Wait," she commands.
You kick Annabelle hard in the head with your long, black leather boot, stunning her, then look up at Rhona. "She did all that to the people who took her in and took care of her," you tell her. "How do you know she won't do the same to you?"
Rhona looks thoughtful. "You have a point there." She points at the axe. "I think you know what to do."
You nod. You pick up the axe and raise it over Annabelle's head. She opens her eyes and looks up at you pleadingly. "Please, Marina, don't do this," she begs.
"Sorry, Annabelle. I don't think you're cut out for this brave new world."
"Noo..." she cries, but her voice is cut short when you bring the axe down onto her skull, shattering it like a ripe melon. You feel adrenaline rush through you, along with, for the first time in your life, a little bit of sadistic glee.
Rhona looks at the gruesome scene and simply nods. Then she says, "Marina, would you like to reconsider my offer?"
"Why, yes, in fact. Somehow, I think I'll join you after all."
"How did I know you were going to say that?" Rhona holds out her hand. "Welcome aboard."
