M114 - Lieutenant Lawrence Moonwalker - Camp
From Create Your Own Story
When Nancy Carter got up off her knees, Lieutenant Moonwalker stepped forward. Like Able-Bodied Spaceman Forrest Ripley, Lieutenant Moonwalker had not seen the woman as a young blonde. Instead he had seen, and was still seeing, her as a middle-aged woman with black and gray peppered hair. It was a layer cut and reached to about the middle of her neck. There were small wrinkles at the corners of her eyes and laugh lines around her mouth. Her jaw-line and neck had some padding. “I hate to be the one to break up this party,” he said to her. “But the Captain’s waiting. We’ve really got to get going.”
Mrs. Carter looked disappointed and she took a step towards the Ship’s Officer. But she stopped. She seemed to think for a moment, then said in a soft voice, “But of course.”
The four of them ascended the slope and headed back to the Camp. The trip took about fifteen minutes. When they entered the hut, Commander Smith stood up in deference to a woman’s presence and Lieutenant Moonwalker said, “Sorry it took so long, Captain, but something came up.”
“I can imagine,” Commander Smith said, giving the four people a knowing glance. To Able-Bodied Spaceman Forrest Ripley he said, “You and I need to talk.”
