Insist you should try his home-made bottled happiness
From Create Your Own Story
You interrupt him before he has chance to speak.
"Just because I'm pretty sure you lose more marks in potions and herbology for handing in something that's especially extra wrong than handing nothing in at all. I think the logic they used was that in the real world, they'd rather you give a customer nothing than something that will kill them"
Which was true. In some places, most noticeably the North Americas, you would be given the gallows for a potion gone too badly wrong, even if it was a genuine mistake. Potions were taken very seriously, like most magic you supposed, it was just that potions were a lot easier to mess up. Say a spell wrong and 9/10 you'll just have nothing happen. Get a potion wrong by even one drop too much and you could wind up with a completely different brewing in your hands.
Also why most places suggested you never taste test your own potions without experienced witches and warlocks at hand.
Nathan, always willing to his ignore his better nature around you, hesitantly looked at the bottle.
"What if it goes wrong? I mean there aren't much risks associated with this kind of mix, but still …" He pauses for a second "But I also really need to pass this class..." Seeming to make up his mind, he passes you the potion and the two rocks he'd found from earlier. "If you feel bad in any way, let me know"
Now maybe a little nervous, you raise the bottle to your lips, and take a sip. For a second, you don't react. Then it kicks in and your body convulses. You spit the liquid out quickly, scaring Nathan to death as he panics and rushes forward, only for you to once again start laughing at him.
"This is disgusting, Nathan oh my god this is NOT happiness in the slightest"
Nathan preens, if he had feathers, he'd have doubled in size.
"Well it's a work in progress!" He snatches the bottle back, and takes a sip himself, only to grimace at the content.
Without admitting defeat verbally, he pours it down the sink and then checks the time.
"I'm not going to get this done before class. Am I?"
You put a sympathetic arm around his shoulder.
"No. No you aren't."
You and Nathan head to you respective classes. Nathan Potions, and you to transfiguration
