High Voltage/Ethics Class2B2

From Create Your Own Story

It was ironic that I was selected to provide the female rebuttal. I thought about the question for a moment, and tried to think about what Lauren would actually say in this instance.

"It isn't fair that women are not proportionally represented on corporate boards and among management. It's institutional sexism. The men in management don't share our perspective and we suffer due to our reduced pay."

Most of the class was now looking back at me, and some of the women were actually nodding. I continued, "I've heard European proposals that require corporations to maintain a certain proportion of females on their corporate boards. This sort of legislation would ensure women are represented at all levels."

The professor seemed satisfied with my response and I began zoning out. A few short daydreams later, class was over. At the end of class, one of the guys from class came up to me. "Hey Lauren," that was some pretty thoughtful stuff you said earlier."

I nodded my head.

"What are you doing later tonight?" he asked.

"I'm sorry," I said, "Do I know you?"

"Sorry," he apologized. "I'm Leon. Are you busy later tonight? Maybe around 9, I'd like to take you out. You just look stunning today."

I only had to work until 8, but I could still use that as an excuse if I wanted to.
