Go to sleep and trust Alia

From Create Your Own Story

You made the decision to trust Alia way back in that prison cell (it seems so long ago now) when you chose her side over Leila's. You feel that you need to put full faith in her now. Anyway, if you stay awake now you might not be able to stay up when it's your turn to watch.

"Sure. Thanks," you say. You lie down and go to sleep.

You awaken to Alia shaking you. Opening your eyes, you look at the positions of the stars. It's right in the middle of the night. "Your turn to watch," she whispers. You sit up as Alia lies down and falls asleep. Well, she didn't cut your throat in your sleep. You can trust her now. Now all that's needed is for her to wake up in the morning and see that you didn't cut her throat in her sleep so that she knows she can trust you.

You look up at the stars. Despite the situation you are in, you enjoy the feeling of peace and calm they give you. Whenever you were on a mission far from home, the quiet of the night and the view of the stars have always been that constant, that familiar sight to give you comfort, even when your missions took you to places like Argentina or South Africa where the stars were different.

An hour passes. Then two. All is quiet, except for the noise of an occasional vehicle passing by on the road. The first light of dawn should be coming in about two more hours.

You hear another engine. Another vehicle, sounds like a large van or small truck. The pattern of this one's engine is different, however. It's definitely slowing down. It comes to a stop about fifty yards from your position. You can now see that it is a military truck. A soldier jumps out, unzipping his pants as he walks. Obviously he needs to take a leak.

Uh-oh. He's coming right towards you!
