You pour the hot water into the mug and add sugar. Boy, this is one cup of good hot English tea!
You walk into the living room and hand him the mug. "Hey, thanks for helping me back there. I'm sorry my only way of showing thanks is making you a cup of tea."
He dismisses your apology and takes a sip of the tea. "It's darn good tea! My dad's been in jail before for theft so I know what it feels like. I'm sure you're pretty remorseful about this. I couldn't just leave you there, could I?"
You shake your head emphatically and grin. A new friend and a narrow escape, all in a day's work. Brilliant!
