Ask Candy to follow you home

Candy gives you and James a ride home. On the way home you tell Candy all about James and how great he is. She has taken a liking to him as well.
As soon as you get home you notice that Jack's car is sitting in your driveway. You suspect trouble may be brewing. The three of you enter the house together and instantly notice Jack sitting in a reclining chair. He has a large-caliber revolver in one hand and a half-empty bottle of scotch in the other.
Jack immediately notices the trio of people who enter. He rises to his feet, waving the gun around in a drunken stupor, and orders the three of you to sit down and shut up.
The three of you calmly comply so as to not provoke him and take seats on the sofa with yourself in the middle. Jack keeps waving the gun back and forth between the three of you, spouting off angrily.
James is as cool as a cucumber. His demeanor is that of sniper with an enemy in his crosshairs. You can tell he wants to rip Jack to shreds.
Candy is remorseful. She doesn't want anyone to get hurt. She cares about both you and Jack very deeply and she has taken a liking to James as well.
You see a couple of viable options at this point. You could telepathically turn James into a werewolf and have him attack Jack, but on the other hand Candy has been Jack's friend for ages and she may be able to talk him down peacefully. If that doesn't work, perhaps she could try romance.
