0002-Go downtown to eat at The Cookie Box
From Create Your Own Story
“DOWNTOWN!” you shout, “I’m not really in the mood to cook anything, plus I could really go for The Cookie Box’s ‘Super Smash Breakfast’ right about now.” Jason smiles at the thought of the huge meal that was about to be devoured. “That’s cool,” he says “I’m not really in the mood to taste your cooking today anyway.”
You get dressed and ready to go, and Jason does the same. You put your shoes on and head out the door, with Jason slowly moving behind. “Pick up the pace, jerk!” you shout into the apartment to him. He quickly replies “You just hold your damn horses, I’m getting myself all sexy for the ladies.” You roll your eyes.
As you wait for him, you can hear the sound of footsteps coming up the stairwell. These weren’t just the footsteps of somebody walking up the stairs, they sounded like multiple people. Not walking though, running. Must be a bunch of kids, which would explain the senseless shouting and stomping. As the footsteps reach the floor you’re on, they seem to slow down. Some of them keep going up, but some sound as if they’ve stopped outside the door. You can hear the shuffling of feet in the stairwell.
“How much longer?” you ask into the apartment. Immediately after asking the question, you hear scratching on the door leading to the stairwell. The scratching sound keeps getting louder. “Hurry up man!” you shout. Again, almost immediately you hear more noises coming from the stairwell. This time, the sound wasn’t scratching, it was banging. It seems like somebody or something on the other side of the door really wants to get through. You stare at the door as the banging gets louder.
You jump as a hand lands on your shoulder. “Alright, let’s go.” Jason says as he startles you. The banging on the door increases once Jason speaks to you. You hurriedly lock up and make your way to the opposite end of the hall. You push the button to call the elevator as the violent banging on the other end of the hall grows louder. Looking down the hall, you notice the door seems like it’s beginning to give in to the abuse it has been taking.

The elevator reaches your floor and the doors slide open. You rush in and push the button to the main floor. You keep your eyes locked on the door at the end of the hall. Before the doors to the elevator can close, you see the door to the stairwell burst open. Five or six people come rushing through the doorway into the hall, running toward the elevator. They make it about two feet away and the doors finally close. You can hear banging and screaming on the other side of the elevator doors.
“Whoa! What a bunch of freaks.” Jason says as he laughs. The elevator stops and the doors open to the main floor. As you walk out, you realize you didn’t bring any cash with you…
