"To the land of Kai."

"Kai...?" You question, the name of the vicinity rolling off your tongue. Your father nods.
"Do you know where it is?" He asks. He leads you inside and hands you a map. You trail your eyes in search of Kai, and point at a land south west from Oshuu. Your father nods approvingly, glad you know the geography well.
Knowing that you knew the way didn't help your mother from worrying about you. You assured her it was fine since you had weapons and a compass; you didn't really think the more reasons you listed, she would feel any better though. Since she didn't see you relent at all, she packed your bag for three days worth of food (and here you thought the journey would last for only a night or so), extra clothing, and money. You roll your eyes affectionately, this mother of yours always did pack way more than you actually needed.
You exited the house and your parents follow you out. A horse was waiting for you - your horse now, you think. You would name the beautiful brown stallion, Brownie! No, wait, Canary! Wait, that was a type of bird... Apple...?
Either way, you named your horse just the way you would liked it to be and climbed on it. You had ridden a horse before; your father had taught you in this new life of yours as a farmer. You wave your final goodbye and leave with one look back at your parents.
You soon leave the countryside of Oshuu and enter a forest. You continue non-stop until you reached a forked road. According to the map, either way led to Kai... You might as well take your pick quickly; the sun was slowly setting over the western horizon. You'd admire a Japanese sunset later.
You could also hear distant voices; you would rather not be anywhere near them.
