WAS: Leave Corinna and go to your father’s treasury chamber to investigate

From Create Your Own Story

While the crowd remains still you begin to slowly make your way towards your father’s treasury chamber. You move like a ghost through the court, not alerting anyone of your presence. Despite being their new king only a few among the court staff watches you go by. Most of them have their eyes fixed on their dead king and by all right so should you. Corinna’s eyes are among those who follow you through the crowd, although she keeps her silence. The instinct that draws you towards the room is one which you cannot explain. Your mind is set on that room, each step towards it a confirmation of your destiny.

Only one man follows in your footsteps. A young guard with a keen eye. He keeps a respectable distance as he is follows you into the empty treasury room.

The treasury is lighten up by supposedly magic rocks imported from lands far to the south of here. The rocks emit a blue light which illuminates the room. A side effect from the glowing stones is a subtle change in any living being close to them. You begin to feel dreamy; the blue light toys with your mind but you are strong willed and push the effect away so that you can focus on the seriousness of the situation. Regardless the light is harmless, no need to pay it any attention.

You ignore the many valuable artifacts in the room and follow walk to the end of the room were a statue stands. The statue depicts a beautiful woman standing well over three meters tall. She looks down on you, to your surprise she wears the cloths of a chaste priestess but her face dispels any illusions of righteousness. The face isn’t really displaying any ill will but something is definitely off. There is an underlying tone of evil in her face, the kind of evil that can’t be understood. But nevertheless your mind warns you of certain danger.

There are flowers lying at her feet. The kind of flowers lovers give each other. An ice cold realization runs through your spine.

“Guard.”

“Yes my liege.”

“Go down to my bed chamber and fetch my new slave Adria. Here, take my sword to show my guards.”

You keep your eyes on the statue as you hand the guard you sword. Neither him nor you express any sense of surprise that you would so easily hand over one of your most precious possessions. The sever implications that the statue might hold is apparent to both of you.

…………

As the young guard returns with Adria your eyes are still glued to the statue.

“Slave is this the statue that the priest whom hired you wore around his neck?”

“By the gods… it is my Master.” Adria says in total awe.

For a while nothing happens, then you order the guard and your slave to wait outside. Finally alone in the room your eyes freeze on the statue, burning her image forever into your mind. Whoever this god is she corrupted your father. Only he knew that you were to go and great the delegation. She commanded your father like a pawn. There is no doubt in your mind this is true. But he mustn’t have been completely enslaved by her. He killed himself with his own sword, he wanted out of her grasp. Seeing you return alive from the suicide mission he sent you on must have broken him. He did the right think in the end.

Not knowing how long you stood there you turn around and leave the room. Well outside all the eyes of the court are stuck on you. “All Hail the King!” They shout. “All Hail the King!”
