You hold Kristen tightly and try to give her comfort. She cries into your shoulder for a bit, but eventually regains control of her emotions.
You are so concerned with comforting Kristen that you don't notice the police officer until he speaks. "Hello, ladies," he calls out. "What happened here?"
You point at Tyrone's corpse. "He tried to rape and kill her," you gasp, still holding Kristen tightly to you. "I did the only thing I could to stop him."
The officer slightly recoils at the sight of you. It’s almost as if he was expecting someone else. He takes a quick glimpse behind him before responding. “Oh..." he mutters. “Then you did the right thing. He got what was coming to him.”
You start to wonder if this man is really a police officer. But you're not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
"No need for a witness statement," the officer continues. "It's obvious what happened here. You're free to go."
The man leaves. You and Kristen walk out to the car.
