"Don't worry Lee, I'll leave you be." She said softly as she started to close her eyes,
"Thanks, I guess." Lee replied as he zipped himself up, "Let me ask you something, why did you do that in the first place?" Lee asked only to hear silence, "Clementine?" He asked peering down to her only to see her sleeping soundly on his lap, "Well alright then, sweet dreams." He said with a little smirk. He felt a sense of relief watching he able to sleep so soundly, he lightly began to run his hand along her hair. Lee too leaned back and shut his eyes, after a few moments he fell asleep.
Four hours past as the pair slept soundly finally Lee woke up, he was at first confused and a bit disoriented forgetting where he was but his mind quickly snapped back to reality. He took hold of Clem's shoulder and shook it lightly, "Clem, hey Clem wake up." He said softly,
Clementine let out a slow exhale as he eyes flickered opened, "Hmm?" She murmured out as she stretched,
"It's night, we should try to get out of town." Lee replied,
"I can't believe it." Clem said as she looked at him with a smile,
"What?" He replied,
"I actually slept without nightmares, I just slept." She replied happily,
"Well that's good, i'm sure once we get to safety you'll get a full nights rest." Lee replied as he scooted to the tree house exit. Clementine quickly followed behind him and once the two made it to solid ground they headed towards the driveway. As they reached the gate that lead to the front yard Clem looked over to him, "Listen once we're out here we got to be as quiet as we can. These things are drawn by sound." She said almost protectively of him,
"Right, I learned that the hard way earlier when I shot one." Lee said with a shiver thinking of the horde that almost got him. With that Lee pulled open the gate and limped through it. Clementine paused for a moment feeling like she was forgetting something important, suddenly a gunshot went off. Her eyes bulged open, 'Oh shit the cop!' She thought before quickly running to Lee's side, "Don't shoot, we'll come peacefully!" Lee said as he raised his hands and stood up.
Clem moved to his side and put her hands up as well, "We aren't dead." Clementine added on,
"Oh shit, i'm sorry." The cop said as he lowered his gun, "Couldn't tell in the dark, are you two alright?"
"We're fine." Clem replied as they both lowered there hands,
Another man came running up behind them, "Hey there, my names Shawn Greene. Listen we're trying to find the thing that got one of my buddies. You help us find it and we'll take you and your daughter out of here." Shawn said to Lee,
"Oh she's not my daughter..." Lee said a bit awkwardly, "I'm..."
"He's a family friend, he's watching out for me while my parents are gone." Clem easily said, she developed a good ability to lie over the years and this was by far the easiest lie she ever had to tell.
"Alright, offer still stands though so what do you say?" Shawn asked with a hopeful look only for them to hear a deep growl. They turned back only to see Shawn's friend turned walker,
"Get into my car. Now!" The cop shouted as he raised his gun. The three did as he commanded and ran back into his police cruiser, the cop unable to pull the trigger quickly turned back and got into the driver seat. He slammed on the gas swerving around the walker and speeding off to Shawn's house. The four of them were silent for the three hour ride. Clem rested her head against Lee's shoulder in the back seat as Lee instinctively put his arm around her.
When they reached Shawn's farm Lee was met with his father Hershel. Hershel treated Lee's leg while offering them a place to stay for the night, in his barn, along with another family. He gave them two sleeping bags and pillows and left them to sleep, Shawn asked for their help tomorrow with securing the fence before leaving as well. Clem and Lee mad a small area to sleep on the ground, just above they could hear the snoring from the family also staying there. They both laid down sighing, to be honest the feeling of safety was high for Clem, just having Lee back helped that immensely even if there relationship was far different now.
