By the time you recover from your whipping, it is time for Rory's.
Rory is stripped from the waist up, like you and tied to the grating. The first lash cracks across his shoulders. The second hits his middle back. Another two lashes followed. A fifth lash draws blood. After twenty lashes, Rory's back is the same mess of scars that yours is.
You also find that you've been demoted. You are no longer a lieutenant.
A few days later, you hear some crew whispering.
