Chapter 9: Mistaken Identity And Luhrash's Plan
The mage mistakes you for the half-orc as well and bids you follow him. As you make your way down a dark stone staircase he speaks to you in low tones.
"All is now in readiness! Soon I will have more than enough power to rest this Duchy from Korol's incompetent hands! First I cast a spell upon him making him impotent, knowing that Korol would be unable to think clearly as he devoted all his effort into finding a woman who could heat his blood and arouse his passion. He's spent all his peoples' taxes building the most elaborate harem in the world in this fool's errand and alienated his people in the process! What's more I used magic to seduce the Duke's wife and then informed Korol she had a lover! By having her executed he insured that his in-laws in the neighboring Barony will not support him when my army seizes the castle! The imbecile is now completly cut off from all hope of rescue from the outside once we slay all guards loyal to him! Tell me Rasha, are the guards you recruited ready and in place?" He asks. Boy does this guy like to talk! This is the first time he's allowed you to speak and thankfully its a yes or no question! You nod your head in the affirmative, thinking he might ask you to explain why not if you shook your head "no".
"Excellent! It is now 10 o'clock, tell the men to strike when the guards change at midnight! Hurry and be off with you! Rasha, were do you think you are going? It's the other way you fool!" He berates you.
You sigh in relief once you're out of his sight. That was a close call! That explains the Duke's erratic behavior you've heard of in the past few years. He was once though of as a good and just ruler of this land.
