"Um, what were you doing before I came in?"
"I was taking a nap, silly. I got bored of waiting."
Looking back at the question, you do think it was silly to ask. If you been in here, waiting for someone to come by, you get really bored too. There's nothing in here to do beside looking after the treasure. Speaking of the treasure, you should ask her how you can get it open.
"Excuse me, but could you tell me how to open this chest?"
"Did you check the inscription?" she asks back, rubbing one of her eyes.
You start to ask, What inscription? but then you see the letters carved into the top of the lid. It reads, To gain the riches inside, you must first satisfy the guardian of the treasure. You turn back to her, thinking this may be a stupid question to ask her.
"Er, are you the guardian that I have to satisfy?"
"Yup." she says as she nods proudly.
"Is there another way to open it?"
"No, you have to satisfy me if you want that treasure." she sounds rather determined now, as if you have no choice anymore.
"Are you sure?"
"Listen kid, I've been waiting here for someone to come for a very long time. And I'm not going to just let you walk right out of here without getting what I want. So we can do this the easy way," her face is now looking really cross and slime tentacles are starting to grow out of her back. "Or the hard way!"
You don't like the sound of "The Hard Way", but now you really do want to get out of here. On the other hand, you also want what's inside that treasure chest.
