"Nah. It was kind of weird. The whole thing was awkward."
"Oh. That sucks."
"So, did you meet anyone cute?"
"Maybe. We danced, things got heated, I gave him my number... I consider this night a success!"
"That's great! I actually feel the same."
"Woo! Bottoms up!" Brie raises her glass and hugs me, nearly toppling me over. I can tell she's had too much to drink.
"Hey, why don't we call it a night? I'm exhausted."
"Me too. I'll get us a ride."
The next morning, I stare at my new phone in disbelief, then I get a text from Darren.
"Quit your part-time job. one of my contacts in Europe will hire you as his remote personal assistant. It's just a cover, don't worry. You won't have to do anything."
