You're ahead of her, so your plan involves you slowing down a little. You look back at her encouragingly and hold you your hand.
"Come on!" you shout, and she reaches for you. Suddenly, you grab her hand, throw your leg in front of her and simultaneously pull her forwards so that she stumbles forwards and sprawls on the ground.
You're running again immediately. She tries to climb to her feet, but a tentacle grabs her ankle. She screams as more tentacles envelop her - then she and creature are gone as it drags her back off to its lair.
Her screams echo through the forest for a time, sometimes muffled, sometimes not, but eventually the forest is silent once more.
You're pretty pleased with your escape, until you realise that you're now hopelessly lost.
