Raising the rock high over your head, you give a forceful grunt as you slam it down on the side of the dragon's head, the thick skull splintering with an audible crack!. One of the dragon's eyes ruptures, popping out of its skull as blood trickles from its mouth. It's body gives a great shudder, the tail quivering for a minute before the beast is still. Dead.
You have no tools with which to butcher the carcass, but you use the wire from the snares to truss up the dragon and drag it to a safer place. You find an overhang in the ravine wall and wedge the carcass underneath, where it hopefully won't be found by scavengers or the hunters who set the traps. You'll come back for it later with your brothers of strength.
Climbing up out of the ravine, you stand on the ridge and look down into the valley. The female elf is no longer at the river and you feel a passing annoyance. Maybe she hasn't gone far.
