Find mysterious cargo

You stumble out of the bridge, sirens were blaring and men were running, though, very few. It seemed all the hostiles had died on entry upon the uncharted planet. You feel sick. Holding the revolver weakly in your hand, you slowly make your way around the slightly tipped USSV Maverick.
You forget the General, or the planet. You know the mission comes first. You brush a few soldiers out of the way as you make your way down the ship. Thankfully, due to the ships heavy back engine designs, architects placed the cargo hold near the nose of the ship to try and balance weight distribution. You take a somewhat broken elevator down to the cargo hold, no engineers or scientists to stop you.
As the elevator door weakly pries itself open, you slip through the small, though widening gap. What shines against your skin, breaches your gaze. It stuns you, but through that, it intrigues you. A bright, fluro blue colour shines brightly against the background of the sparky metal. You study it for a moment. It appears to be containing something, and a small button in the center, perhaps to open the perfect square box. Do you?
