You turn your head to the other side and look out of the window. You try to concentrate on the songs, but your mind keeps wandering back to your mother. You try harder, but fail, and every now and then you glimpse sideways. Julianne's hair falls way past her shoulders and gleams like polished copper in the sunlight.
