D&D: Talk to the man, see what he knows

From Create Your Own Story

You step up to the wall beside him to get out of the traffic line, looking to the man "I can handle myself fair enough, what do you know about these disappearances?"

The man looks to you briefly with a shrug, looking over the merchants traveling out of the gates as he murmurs his response. "Well, some scouts came across a raided caravan.. All the men were dead, small wounds, but there was no trace of the women. You may want to watch yourself out there, we've got some abductors on the loose..."

You give a nod, looking out to the east, off the road. It makes the Kobold threat only that much more intriguing. With a thankful gesture, you bid the guard farewell and head out into the wild...

Traveling over plains, brush, and rivers, there's actually little sign of any life at all for a good number of miles. Taking a drink from a stream, you wipe a hand over your mouth and forehead when you see it; a small footprint. You're not one for proper tracking, but such an obvious clue seems to be pointing to a very clear direction, one you no doubt can use to your advantage. You head off after the track's direction, a broken twig, a muddy print on a rock, you are positive that the kobolds are this way, and as you cross over a hill, you see them!

Several Kobolds lie prone in rock crops, blending it well enough to hide from the caravan ahead, but not when you're staring right at them from behind. You have the advantage, but there are about six of them. You consider your options for the moment, they've not noticed you yet but if you don't do something they're going to attack the merchants up ahead!

D&D: Try to sneak up on the kobolds down the hill

D&D: To hells with it, they're just Kobolds! CHARGE!

D&D: Wait for them to attack the caravan first...
