Your name is Lariel. With no family to relate though, you've started from scratch. As a young apprentice, you remember the struggle you had to take classes at the prestigious academy of Waterdeep to learn magic. That was years ago. You've honed your craft through study and adventuring and even managed to inherit the tower of a wicked sorcerer that dabbled into demonic magic. As master of the tower now, you've taken it to advance your own skills, even taking an apprentice, a young girl named Ilara. A shy but promising pupil.

Unfortunately, not all is well. The tower is located in the territory of a greedy guild of thieves. Not only that but now that the tower have an official owner again, the Waterdeep authority seeks payment as it was illegally acquired by the late sorcerer.

These might be delays to your current project. Adding to it all, the call of adventure longs in your guts and you miss your old group of travelling companions.

You wake up, get dressed and washed in your quarters. You are expecting the visit of collectors from officials. The sum they require as payment is substantial but it would not be a lethal blow to your fortune. Still, you find it hard to depart with the sums because of some corrupted nobles.

As you step down, you cross path with your apprentice who goes up to study in the library. You smiles at her and tell her you'll be along shortly.
