Ask the old man who he is

You fail to remember him, and reluctantly ask who he is. The man chuckles, and explains,"We were traveling along the streets when the machine attacked. You were caught in an explosion, and we were separated from the others. I expected you might forget, you took quite a blow to the head. To tell you the truth, i didn't think you would survive." The old man seems sincere, and his smile reassures you. But now you have even more questions. Who are "The others" the man talked about? How did they escape? Or, of course, you could just leave.
