我說， ｢你好。 你今天好不好？｣
你說， ｢你好。 我今天好。 你呢？｣
我說， ｢我今天好。｣

You are good, great. We just had our first conversation, so congratulations. I know though, we have a few new terms here to learn.

We have the first part of each, right?

我(wǒ)說(shuō). I say or I speak.
你(nǐ)說(shuō). You say or you speak.

The first sentence, should remember the words: 你好。 If we look though, we do not see a ? after, and it doesn't seem to be a 嗎 or 好不好. So, what is this?

你(nǐ)好(hǎo), directly translated, is "You good". However, in Chinese, it is used to replace "Hello". So, if someone just says "你好", they are saying "Hello". However, if they say "你好嗎?", they are saying, "Are you good?"

When we look at the first sentence, we see "I say, ｢Hello.｣". Now, just so you know, the ｢ replaces a front ", and the ｣ replaces the back ". This is the same in Chinese and Japanese (Since the traditional Japanese was almost the same as traditional Chinese, just with different pronunciation).

The next new term we see is "今天".

今(jīn) is Today, but it is not a complete word by itself. We would never say 今 for today.

天(tiān) is Day. Like One day, 一天. We can use this by itself. When put together, 今(jīn)天(tiān) is today.

So, we have almost all the words. In the middle sentence though, we see there is one word at the very end, 呢(ne). This is called a question particle, like 嗎, but does something slightly different. While 嗎 just turns the sentence into a question, 呢 asks the same question back to the person who asked it. In this case, I asked you if you are good or not, and you returned the question back to me, "I am good. And you?"

So, right now what we have is:
我(wǒ)說(shuō)， ｢你(nǐ)好(hǎo)。 你(nǐ)今(jīn)天(tiān)好(hǎo)不(bù)好(hǎo)？｣ = I say, "Hello. Are you good today?" [Directly translated it is: I say, "You good. You today good not good?"]
你(nǐ)說(shuō)， ｢你(nǐ)好(hǎo)。 我(wǒ)今(jīn)天(tiān)好(hǎo)。 你(nǐ)呢(ne)？｣ = You say, "Hello. I am good today. And you?" [Directly translated it is: You say, "You good. I Today good. You?"]
我(wǒ)說(shuō)， ｢我(wǒ)今(jīn)天(tiān)好(hǎo)。｣ = I say, "I am good today [Directly translated it is: I say, "I today good."]

So, we know you are good today, but what is a story without action?
