You head in, and almost instantly almost get hit by a Tesla Beam. You dodge instinctively, and it misses you by a few centimeters. You look up to see two men laughing.
"At my expense," you grumble in your head.
One of them walks up. "Sorry about that. No hard feelings? It our new recruit trick/test. We laugh about them at dinner. Every unit has one. I made it a test five minutes after I used it first. I’m Jake and I’m to guide you around. Can’t really tell you any department secrets until you’re six months in and unable to transfer." He strolls deeper into the building and you follow, glad of the heat from all the machinery. "50% of the lasers here are harmless, including the one I shot at you earlier. Anyway, there’re twelve of us, including you. Half soldiers, a quarter scientists and the rest are both. You can test some stuff, but in an hour. If you can use the thing then bring it. If you can’t, bring it anyway." He puts on a cool-looking glove, shoots a cable out, and swings away, leaving a folded piece of A4 paper behind. You instinctively open it. Four lines are on the paper, as well as their locations on a map.
