"That is a good question, lad," the tree replies. "You see, long ago, before you and Saria and all of the Kokiri existed in this world, I was one of the seven sages. When I died and the seven sages were called upon once more, they approached Saria to become the forest sage, a role she accepted. But, now that I am alive, she will not need to be a sage again- there is no need to approach her to become a sage."
"I don't understand."
"The sages- we all remember, Link. We sages were there when Ganondolf was destroyed. Just like Zelda and you remember it all- we remember it all."
"But Saria-"
"Saria was called upon because I had passed. But now that I am here, there is no need for her to be a sage."
"And her memories-"
"Her memories were taken from her- that was my choice. I decided that they did not need to be her burden to bear. She knows nothing, Link." You shift on one foot. "Unless..."
"Well..." you start.
"Never it mind," the tree says. "I will speak with Saria, find what she knows, what she believes. But please- do not speak to her or anyone else of what happened. The past has come and gone. Let's put it to rest."
You think about this for a long moment, what the tree has told you.
"What will become of her?" you ask softly.
The tree sighs. "What will become of any of the Kokiri villagers? This is a simple world here in the forest. She will live as a member of the Kokiri tribe, here in the forest. She will build a life here, with all of them. And I will continue to protect them all."
You nod, absorbing what the tree has told you.
"Do you have any other questions for me, Link?"
