The woods were thick, and with the fog limiting her vision, she could barely see branches and tree trunks before she was on top of them. After going only a few feet into the woods, she was quickly reduced to picking her way through them, carefully moving one foot at a time, peering into the dark tunnel of mist and trees in front of her, arms out in front of her protectively.
Her progress was slow, a foot at a time, a yard at a time. She didn't dare to look around her, or back at the road where her car still sat.
Looking ahead as she crept through the woods, Katie didn't see the small ravine in front of her until she put her foot down and found no ground under it. Then she was, once again, sliding down a hill.
"Shit," Katie said. She grabbed at a branch over her head and managed to use it to break her fall. Holding onto the branch, she pulled herself out of the ravine. When her feet were on solid ground, Katie looked around. She looked down at herself.
"Shit," she said again. Somehow, she had lost her white panties when she started to slide down the ravine, and was now naked.
It didn't take Katie long to decide that going into the woods was a stupid idea. She would be better off going back to the road, back to her car, and then maybe trying to get to a town for help.
She turned around, and started walking carefully through the woods, back the way she had come.
