Knowing your grandfather, rushing in will only get you into trouble. So, you decide to let him do the first move. The two of you circle each other and you make sure not to get the river behind you and put you in a bad position.
Your granddad takes a firm position and without giving away early warning signs, suddenly rushes at you at full speed and you exchange a few swift attacks. He keeps you busy, not giving you time to act and out of nowhere he rams you with his shoulder and you loose your rhythm, giving him an opening. A moment later, he raises his sword over his head to bring it down on you and you don't have the chance to parry, but you muster all the strength you can to dive back, out of harm's way, barely avoiding your grandfather's sword and roll immediately back to your feet, ready to defend yourself. You're glad that you kept the river out of your back, otherwise you'd be drenched now.
"Not bad, for a start. Let's see how you handle this!"
Not even resting a moment, he lunges at you.
