You make fist and open it again, hoping the tray will fly up to your hand. Your assumption was correct but the tray flew too fast and just smashed into your hand. Before you can do anything, the tray flips and its contents fall. The glass bounces lightly on the padded ground and the sandwich plops down, so close, yet so far.
