You nod. You stay quiet, your brain still trying to come to terms with everything that's happened.
You are so focused on looking inward that you don't notice the miles flying by. You snap out of your reverie when the car pulls to a stop. Mama Kay gets you out of the car and inside a crude cabin.
She strips down and prepares two buckets of warm water. You both get a sponge bath and dry off. She prepares a simple meal on an ancient cookstove, and the two of you eat in silence. After she washes the dishes, she asks about you.
You give her a short version of the day's events. She listens understandingly and guides you to a bed, where the two of you lie down, your head on her chest.
