Head into the new passage on the right

You enter the passage on the right. Torches continue to line the walls. The path makes several twists and turns, then ends at a heavy, closed wooden door. You press your ear against it. Nothing. You try the door. Locked.
You raise your leg. Thanks to your years of dance and gymnastics training, your legs are incredibly powerful, and a single, lethal kick from your booted foot shatters the wooden door into splinters. You perform a front tuck somersault into the room, shotgun at the ready. But no one is there.
You look around. The room is empty except for a large, strange-looking machine set against the far wall. You examine it. There is a large, round wheel with a pointer, set into a metal panel. A mass of wires connect the panel to a power source. Markings around the wheel seem to indicate a timeline, from hundreds of years in the past to hundreds of years in the future. The pointer on the wheel is currently set to the present, but can be turned in either direction. And next to the wheel is a large red button. You stare intently at the contraption. Could this be a time machine?
Suddenly, you hear footsteps approaching. Many of them. The noise from your destruction of the door must have alerted whoever is guarding this thing. And you are trapped at a dead end, with no way out except...
