Get dressed, gather some essentials and leave your apartment

You decide its time to find out some answers.
You get dressed, shower (and surprisingly find that the water is hot), and then look around your apartment for some essential items to bring with you.
You find a small backpack which you used that one summer for hiking in Colorado. It's not huge but it can carry a small load. Next you open the fridge. There is nothing worth bringing. You check your cupboards and find 3 energy bars and a small bag of trailmix.
This will have to do you think to yourself...
Next you check under your bed, your couch and anywhere else for items that might be useful. All you manage to find is a very small flashlight and 4 AA batteries. You really wish you would have been more prepared.

You exit your apartment, locking the door on your way out. Now, you find yourself in the hallway. To the left and right there are many doors to other apartments, and straight ahead there is an elevator.
