Against your better judgement, you decide to investigate the noise. When you get closer to the source, you hear a faint voice: "Oh my god, is somebody there? Help. Help!"
It's Debra. Involuntarily, you speed up. There, she must be behind these bushes. You force your way through the bushes.
"Oh my god, Will. Stop, don't come closer."
A few feet away, close to the only tree on the meadow, Debra kneels on the ground, waving wildly at you. You instantly stop, baffled by the weird sight. Why would she do this? Then you notice that Debra isn't actually on her knees - it is as if her legs just began right under her knees. Her feet and shins have disappeared underground. At last, the penny drops. Quicksand.
