Attack the demon and attempt to save Dr. Calderon's soul

From Create Your Own Story

Monica is right, you decide. Invincible demon or not, you have to at least try to stop him. You can't let Dr. Calderon die like this.

Monica fires an explosive bolt from her crossbow at the demon. There is a massive explosion of gray smoke. When it clears, however, it reveals the demon still standing there, unharmed.

Meanwhile, as you raise your pistol, Patricia draws a hidden dagger from underneath her skirt and flings it at you with tremendous force. You barely manage to deflect it with your sword. You take aim at her, but she throws her heavily muscled body into a roundoff followed by a series of incredibly fast back handsprings. Although you are an excellent markswoman, she is so blazingly fast that one bullet of yours after another flies safely between her legs as she is upside down.

The demon begins aiming his hand at Monica, but she has already loaded another explosive bolt into her crossbow. She fires at the cavern ceiling directly above the demon. With another massive explosion, several dozen tons of rock fall on the demon, burying it underneath a massive amount of stone.

Patricia is still backflipping lethally fast, but Dr. Calderon suddenly sticks out his leg, tripping her. She falls to the ground with a grunt and you aim your pistol at her head. "Thanks for the assist," you say.

"De nada." Dr. Calderon looks at you, then at Monica, his eyes widening when he recognizes his old associate. "Monica? What are you doing here?"

"Long story."

"Well, thank you guys for saving my life...and my soul."

Monica smiles. "Well, we were saving our souls too."

You point at the pile of stone. "Is he..."

As you all look, the pile of rocks quivers ever so slightly, then goes still again. Then it shakes again, a little more this time.

"Fuck," you sigh.

Dr. Calderon nods. "Even being crushed under tons of stone won't kill him. He'll be trapped for a few hours at most. We should get out of here."

"What about her?" you ask, pointing to Patricia, who you are still holding at gunpoint.

Dr. Calderon looks at his ex-secretary, pain and betrayal in his eyes. "Patricia, how could you?"

She simply rolls her eyes. "You never paid me enough anyway."

"My God, Patricia, the board of directors sets salaries, I'm just the cur..." Monica interrutps Dr. Calderon by clearing her throat. "Sorry. More important stuff and all," the curator finishes.

"Yes," says Monica. She glares at Patricia icily. "I don't care how long I've known you. Give us one good reason why we shouldn't just shoot you in the leg and leave you for the demon to deal with."

Seeing that Monica isn't fucking around, Patricia swallows hard. "Get me out of here and I'll tell you where the Demonslayer Blade is."

You, Monica, and Calderon stare at one another. "How would she know where it is?" Calderon asks.

"I don't trust her," says Monica.

"Neither do I," you add. You tighten your finger on the trigger as you glare at Patricia. "How about you tell us where it is right now, and we'll spare you."

"How can I trust you?"

"You can't. But you don't have much of a choice."

Patricia gulps again. Finally, she says, "It's in the museum. Take me there and I'll show you which one it is."

Dr. Calderon gasps. "The museum?! But how is that...I've checked all the artifacts myself..."

Monica brushes a strand of dark hair out of her face. "Carlos, I still don't trust her, but I've theorized that it's possible that one of the museum's swords is the artifact we've been looking for. Let's take her with us and see if she can actually give us anything."

You and Calderon nod in agreement. Prodding Patricia with your gun, you begin marching her out of the cavern, Monica and Dr. Calderon behind you. Back in the cave, the pile of stones shakes again.

When you finally reach the museum, Patricia leads you through various exhibit halls before finally pointing to an ordinary-looking sword in a case with several others. "That's it. That's the Demonslayer Blade."

"That one?" says Dr. Calderon doubtfully. "That's just a common soldier's sword, a peasant's sword."

Patricia shrugs. "That's the idea. Who would ever suspect it?"

You and Monica look at each other skeptically. Finally, Dr. Calderon says, "We'll see. In the meantime, Patricia, I'm turning you over to the police."

"Please, Carlos, no," she begs.

Monica looks thoughtful. "She may be of more use in a different way. How about we have her test the sword, in the only way that'll tell us for sure?"

At that, Patricia's eyes widen. "Please, Monica, no! Not that! Turn me over to the cops!"

"Why are you afraid? If it really is the Demonslayer Blade, you can kill the demon and have nothing to fear."

"But he's so powerful...he can kill with fire long before anyone could get him with a sword..."

Monica shrugs. "He trusts you. You're the only one who can get close enough."

Patricia turns to her ex-boss. "Please, Carlos. You wouldn't send me to my doom, would you?" She bats her eyelashes. She really is quite attractive. Carlos looks hesitant.

Monica looks at you. "Katarina, what do you think?"
